Did you know I wear a mask too?

It’s not identical to yours (not as grandiose or beautiful or visible), but it’s still similar where it matters most: functionality. It works as intended and everyone sees it; they take it at face value, not bothering to look past it to discover what it hides.

And when you wear it long enough, you learn to wear it well. You learn to never be without it. It learns to be you.

Eventually, one mask may fall away, but there will always be another underneath to take its place.

Beneath all the masks, do you still have a face? Is there still a real, authentic version of you?

Perhaps it’s time to find out.
